The things I do

I work with small to medium sized businesses to create meaningful identities, marketing materials and websites. Some clients are just starting out in business and need a logo, a brand or a website from scratch, others have outgrown their existing website, need to freshen up their branding or need extra marketing materials for their growing business.

Whatever your requirements, I will work with you and guide you through the solutions that will fit your business best and target your desired customers. Good design helps sell your message and will make you stand out from the crowd.

Graphic Design

Branding & Visual Identity

Your brand and logo are a reflection of your business values. They are often the first contact with potential customers. A good logo will help you stand out from the crowd and connect with your target audience.

Marketing & Print

Even though a lot of communication now happens via digital channels, there is still room for print. Brochures, leaflets, business cards, stationary, etc. all need to match your branding.

Editorial, Typesetting & Cover Design

Layout design for books, magazines or reports to convey the message of the work. If you are self publishing a book I can help with typesetting the pages to a professional standard and the design of the book cover.

Type Design

A little bit of type can go a long way. Sometimes a logo or word mark needs a bit more than a commercial typeface has to offer. This is where custom type design comes in.

It doesn't have to be a full all singing typeface right from the start. It can begin with just enough characters to make the logo. The rest can grow with time.

Web Design

UX/UI Design

Every website is different and has its own set of requirements, audience and goals. This is where we start with the content architecture, sitemaps, wireframes and prototypes. Getting these things right will benefit the user experience and deliver the desired outcomes for you.

Responsive Web Development

I design and develop responsive websites, working across a wide range of devices, from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones. Responsive web design is an approach aimed at crafting websites to provide an optimal viewing experience, easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning and scrolling.

Web standards compliant code

I develop websites using industry best practices so that all visitors, regardless of ability and capability can access the website. Navigation will be well labeled, using a common theme to allow users to become familiar with the website. Images will have a written description added in the code to aide with search engine optimisation and help visitors using screen readers.

Search engine friendly

Being found in search engines is an important part of having a successful website. Key factors in this are a well built website and website text that is optimised for the search terms visitors may use to find your services or products. I develop websites using web standard guidelines (W3C), ensuring clean code to help both search engines and visitors.

Content Management System

I use Kirby for the content management of websites. Kirby is a flat file system without the need for a database, resulting in a fast website. It can adapt to any project with an admin interface tailored to your specific requirements.
