Concentrate on value, not pixels

Occasionally a client asks to make a change to the design of their website because they believe this change will make all the difference to the success of the site. The changes are often minor, like adding a background image, a different font or colour shade for the buttons.

I am not that precious about my designs that I refuse to make changes to a finished design that was approved by the client several months ago. If the suggested change is a reasonable one and really will make a difference then who am I to object? But often the amend is purely cosmetic and will likely go unnoticed by the website visitors.

If you are a business owner and have a website, spend your time concentrating on the message you want to put across to your visitors. Make sure they connect with your business and give them value. Don’t give them a migraine-inducing background image.
